What it is
v2rayng is a free, open source Android app that turns a vless:// key into a VPN connection for the whole phone. It has no adverts, no account and no servers of its own. You add a key, tap the button, and Android shows a key icon at the top of the screen. It comes from the developer known as 2dust, the same person behind v2rayN for Windows. It is on the Play Store in India, and as an APK on GitHub.
Install and connect
- 1Install v2rayNG from the Play Store.
- 2Open @akimbo_key_bot in Telegram and get your key. Five days are free.
- 3In v2rayNG tap the plus sign, then Import config from QRcode or Import config from clipboard.
- 4Tap the new line so that it is selected.
- 5Tap the round button and allow the connection request.
Settings worth knowing
- Per-app proxy: choose which apps use the VPN. Use it to leave PhonePe, GPay, Paytm or a bank app outside if they complain.
- Settings, then enable IPv6: useful on Jio, which is an IPv6 network.
- Android's Always-on VPN keeps the connection up after a restart.
- The three dot menu has a connection test that measures the delay to the server.
- Routing: leave it at the default unless you know why you are changing it.
Battery savers on Indian phones
The most common complaint is that the VPN turns off by itself. That is the phone and not the app. MIUI and HyperOS on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco, ColorOS on Oppo and Realme, and Funtouch on Vivo all close background apps aggressively. Open the app's info page, allow Autostart, set the battery saver to No restrictions, and lock the app in the recent apps screen. On Samsung, add it to the Never sleeping apps list. After that the connection holds through the night.
Troubleshooting
- ✓Import failed: the key was only partly copied. Copy the full line again, or scan the QR code.
- ✓Connected but nothing loads: set the date and time to automatic, then try UAE in place of Singapore.
- ✓A single app will not open: exclude it with Per-app proxy.
- ✓Hotspot users are not covered. Each device needs its own client.
- ✓Lost the key: open the bot, and it will show the key again.
APK or Play Store
Use the Play Store if you can. If your phone has no Google services, download the arm64-v8a file from the Releases page of 2dust/v2rayNG on GitHub. Do not install v2rayNG from an APK mirror or from a Telegram channel. A modified copy looks the same on the screen and can watch everything you do. After a manual install, remember that updates will not arrive by themselves, so look at the GitHub page every month or two and install the newer version over the old one.

Is v2rayNG free?

Is v2rayNG safe?

Why does it turn off when I lock the phone?
Your phone's battery saver is closing it. Allow Autostart and remove the battery restrictions.
Can I use UPI apps with it on?
Most of them work. If one refuses, exclude it with Per-app proxy.
Does it work on Jio?
Yes. Turn on the IPv6 option in the settings if some apps do not load.
v2rayNG or Hiddify?
Hiddify is simpler. v2rayNG gives more control, including Per-app proxy. Both read the same key.
