Why check at all

Every site you open can see your IP address. From it, the site learns your operator, such as Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL, and your rough location, usually a big city and not your own town. Free IP tools show you the same thing. Look once with the VPN off and once with it on. If the operator and the city have both changed, the key is working. If a DNS leak test still shows your operator, some of your traffic is going around the tunnel.

Guides in this section

  • What is my IP: what the number is and what it shows about you in India.
  • Who is my ISP: how to read the operator name and why it matters.
  • DNS leak test: how to run one and how to fix a leak.

A two minute routine

Are these tools safe?

A lookup page only reads what you already send to every website. Pages that offer to know my IP address details after you install an app are not needed. The basic facts are free: what is my IP public address, what is my IP address IPv4, my IP address and location. Close the tab when you are done.

Questions

Things people ask the bot

What is my IP in simple words?

The public address your operator gave your connection. Every site you open can see it.

Can someone find my house from my IP?

No. It shows your operator and a rough area, and often the wrong city.

What is my ISP number?

ISP means internet service provider, which is your operator. There is no number for you to know. The lookup simply shows the operator's name.

Why does my IP show Mumbai when I am somewhere else?

Operators route traffic through regional hubs, and the databases record the hub.

How do I know my VPN works?

The IP lookup shows another country, and the DNS leak test does not show your operator.

Do I need to pay for these tools?

No. The basic checks are free on many sites.
