Why there is no server in India
Since 2022 the CERT-In directions require any VPN provider with servers in India to collect and keep customer names, addresses, contact details and assigned IP addresses for five years. We have no accounts and no logs, and we could not keep that promise with a machine on Indian soil. Several large international brands removed their Indian servers for the same reason. Some of them now offer a virtual India location, which means a server that stands physically in another country, such as Singapore or the UK, while its address is registered as Indian.
Who needs an Indian IP address
- NRIs and students abroad who want to watch Indian streaming services that they pay for.
- People who manage Indian bank accounts, mutual funds or tax portals from outside the country.
- Travellers whose Indian apps refuse to open abroad.
- Developers testing how a site looks from India.
- Not people who are in India. You already have one.
Honest alternatives if you need one
- A large VPN brand with a virtual India location. Check that they state clearly where the server physically is.
- International roaming on your Indian SIM, which gives an Indian address. It is costly, but it works for a quick bank login.
- Asking your bank to enable international access. Many blocks are a security setting on the account.
- Be careful with VPN for India IP free offers. A free Indian IP address usually means someone's home connection resold through an app.
- Searches such as VPN India IP free lead mostly to those apps.
If you are in India
Then you want the opposite, and this is where we can help: Singapore and UAE for speed, and Japan, Germany, France or the USA for a particular region. Your operator sees one encrypted connection. Websites see the country you chose. No record is kept, and none is required, because the servers are not in India.
Try the other direction
- 1Open @akimbo_key_bot in Telegram and take the five free days.
- 2Install a free client and paste the key.
- 3Connect to Singapore.
- 4Check your IP address. It should show Singapore and a hosting company.
Good to know
- ✓Indian streaming apps may not work while you are connected to a foreign server. Pause the VPN or exclude the app.
- ✓UPI and banking apps sometimes refuse foreign IP addresses. Exclude them in the client.
- ✓When you travel abroad, the key still works, and it still gives you our six countries, not India.
- ✓We do not resell residential IP addresses of any country.
- ✓If India's rules change, this page will change with them.

Questions
Things people ask the bot
Do you have an Indian server?
No. Indian rules would force us to keep customer records for it.
Can I get an Indian IP address from abroad with Akimbo?
No. Use a provider that offers a virtual India location, or roaming on your Indian SIM.
Is a free Indian IP VPN safe?
Be careful. Free Indian IP addresses often come from apps that resell other users' connections.
What is a virtual India location?
A server outside India with an IP address registered as Indian.
Will Hotstar work with Akimbo?
From inside India it works without a VPN. Through our foreign servers it may not.
Why do people in India use foreign servers?
To open blocked sites and apps, and to keep their traffic away from the operator and outside local record keeping.
