The quick answer
ISP stands for internet service provider. On a phone it is your mobile operator. At home it is your broadband company. To find out who is my ISP, open any IP lookup page. Next to your IP address it shows a company name, and that is your ISP as the internet sees it. No app is needed and there is nothing to pay.
People also ask what is my ISP number. There is no such number for a customer. The lookup shows a name, and sometimes a technical network number that matters only to engineers.
Why the name may surprise you
- A local cable company often resells a bigger network, so the lookup may show the bigger company's name.
- Older Vi connections can still show Vodafone or Idea.
- Jio broadband and Jio mobile appear under slightly different names.
- Office and college networks show the company that sells them the line.
- With a VPN on, you see a hosting company abroad and not your operator.
What your ISP can see
Your internet service provider carries all your traffic, so it can see which sites you connect to and when, even though HTTPS hides the pages themselves. In India operators must also block sites on government orders and keep certain records. With a VPN, the operator sees one encrypted connection to a server abroad and nothing inside it. The question what is my internet service provider able to see then has a short answer: that you are online, and how much data you use.
Useful to know
- ✓Who is ISP for your home Wi-Fi? Check on Wi-Fi, not on mobile data. They are different networks.
- ✓A dual SIM phone uses the SIM that is set for mobile data.
- ✓The ISP name says nothing about your plan or your speed.
- ✓Some sites treat hosting company addresses more strictly. If a site refuses you, try another country.
- ✓Your operator cannot see inside the tunnel, and we keep no logs of what passes through it.

Questions
Things people ask the bot
Who is my ISP on mobile data?
Your mobile operator: Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL. A lookup page shows the exact name.
What is my ISP number?
Customers do not have one. Lookup pages show the operator's name and sometimes its network number.
Why does it show a different company from the one I pay?
Small providers often resell a larger network, and the larger network's name is what appears.
Can my ISP see what I do with a VPN on?
No. It sees an encrypted connection to a server and the amount of data.
Does changing ISP change my IP?
Yes. Every operator has its own addresses.
Is this check free?
Yes. Any IP lookup page shows the ISP name at no cost.
Still unsure?
