The short answer
NordVPN works from India, but its servers sit in other countries. In 2022 the company said it would stop keeping servers inside India after the CERT-In rules arrived, which require VPN providers to hold customer records for five years. So when you connect through Nord you appear to be somewhere else, and you cannot pick an Indian address. If you wanted an Indian IP for a bank or a streaming app, a nordvpn India search will not give you one, and neither will any other service that keeps its servers abroad.
What the 2022 change means day to day
Your traffic leaves India, travels to a server in another country and comes back. The nearest locations are the quickest, so a Singapore or UAE exit usually feels better than one in Europe or the USA. Apps that check your location will see the country you chose, not India. That is the point for some people and a problem for others, for example UPI apps that want an Indian address. Switch the tunnel off for those.

- Nord in Chrome: a browser extension covers browser traffic only. Other apps on the PC keep using your normal connection.
- Nord on Android: from the Play Store when it is listed for you, or from the company site. Avoid APK mirrors.
- Free versions and codes: look at the pricing page and the trial terms on Nord's own site today. Plans, coupon codes and trial rules change often, so we will not quote them here. Ask whether a card is needed up front and whether the plan renews on its own.
- Anything labelled cracked, mod or premium free is not from the company. Those files are a common way to lose logins.

Can I get an Indian IP address with NordVPN?
No. The company does not keep servers in India, and no service with servers abroad can give you an Indian address.
Is the NordVPN Chrome extension the same as the app?
No. An extension covers only what you do in that browser. The desktop app routes the whole computer.
Does NordVPN have a free trial in India?
