Who blocks sites in India

Blocks come from government orders under the IT Act and from court orders, mostly about piracy and betting. Operators then have to carry them out. Each operator does it slightly differently and at a different time, so a site can be open on Airtel and blocked on Jio. When people search open banned websites, they usually mean one of these: a site blocked by an order that swept up too much, a service that has left India, or something their college Wi-Fi filters.

What people ask about most

  • TikTok banned in which country? India banned it in June 2020, together with many other Chinese apps. Several other countries restrict it, mostly on government phones.
  • Are pakistani dramas banned in India? In 2025 the government told streaming platforms to remove content of Pakistani origin, and a number of Pakistani YouTube channels were blocked for viewers in India.
  • So is a pakistani drama banned in India on every platform? Availability differs from one platform to another, and it changes.
  • Is VPN banned in Kashmir? There is no national ban. Local orders have restricted VPN use in some districts for limited periods.
  • Torrent and betting sites: blocked by court orders. We do not support them.

What a VPN changes

With a key connected, your operator sees one encrypted connection to a server abroad. It cannot tell which site you are opening, so its block list does not apply. The site sees a visitor from Singapore, UAE or another of our countries. That is all a VPN does. It is legal to use one in India. What you open through it is your own choice and your own responsibility, and an order that made something unlawful does not stop applying because a tunnel exists.

The safe way to do it

  1. 1Get a key from @akimbo_key_bot in Telegram. The first five days are free.
  2. 2Install a client from the Play Store or the App Store.
  3. 3Connect to Singapore.
  4. 4Open the site. If it wants a particular region, choose that country.

Where we stop

  • ✓No piracy. Sites that stream or torrent films without a licence are not what the key is for.
  • ✓No betting or gambling.
  • ✓Nothing that targets other people: no harassment and no fraud.
  • ✓We cannot tell you whether a particular site is lawful for you to use. When in doubt, do not.
  • ✓We keep no logs, and that is not an invitation to break the law.

Unsafe shortcuts

Mirror sites, unblocker apps from unknown developers and settings files passed around in groups are the usual way people try to open blocked sites. They are also the usual way phones get infected. A mirror of a banned site is controlled by a stranger. An unblocker APK can read everything on your screen. If a method asks you to turn off a safety feature, walk away.
